CORE (Cirrhosis Outcome Risk Estimator) is a prediction model under development by Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. CORE predicts the 10-year probability of a diagnosis of cirrhosis or complications thereof in persons in the general population with no known liver disease. CORE uses laboratory data on ALT, AST and gamma-GT, and age and sex. Common causes of pathological lab values should be investigated before use of the model, such as recent exercise or high alcohol consumption.
The CORE model is an additional tool to a clinical evaluation, and does not replace clinical decisions.
